Check the time on your Swatch watch because it’s time for the 80’s to return to The Emelin Theater.   Choices: A Rock Opera will be rocking Westchester in November.  This energetic piecetells the story of Ace, the lead singer of a rock band called Choices.  His intense drive and focus have brought the band great success but has left Ace emotionally underdeveloped and lacking any life experience beyond the stage.  Enter a mysterious and intriguing woman leaving Ace to make some difficult “choices”. 

Amy Herzberg is the choreographer and featured dancer in this production.  Amy is a musical theater performer who has been in numerous productions including The Magical Journey of Arlekina Off-Broadway.  She didn’t dance around any topics when we had the pleasure of chatting with her.

Whether you lived through it, were born in it or know a thing or two about it, most people have an opinion of the 80’s.  “To me, the 80s is the time when my parents were in their teens and had the time of their life.  (Nice Dirty Dancing Reference!)  Which means now whenever I want them to listen to new music, their bar is too high to like anything new.” 

Amy is hoping that the audience also has the time of their life!  “I hope to convey to the audience the true nature and feelings of the characters through the movement and create a truly engaging and enjoyable experience for all who sit in the audience.” 

Every artistic endeavor is also a learning experience.  Some lessons are more fun than others.  “I’ve learned that the best way to get a good laugh is to get a few grown men in a line and have them do a little dance!”
