Fans of the provocative and entertaining theater will have two more opportunities to experience “Agency” this weekend at the American Theatre of Actors. ATA has added the dates of June 8th, 8 pm, and June 9th, 3 pm, offering audiences the chance to witness the clash between traditional values and modern ideas portrayed with insight and humor. Tickets can be found on the ATA website!

The extended run of the show comes following a wealth of positive feedback from audience members and reviewers. The writer has expressed her pleasure with the way the show has been presented and is grateful for the positive response.

Sarah Vindigni, known for her insightful commentary on various art forms, has always been passionate about bringing her best work to audiences. Her profound understanding of the possibilities of theatre, and her dedication to creating a captivating experience for the viewers, have undoubtedly been a driving force behind the success of this show. Sarah can craft a narrative that resonates deeply with the audience, resulting in the overwhelming support that has paved the way for the extended run of the show

‘Agency’ follows Yvonne, a new hire with a Gen Z perspective, facing resistance from her colleagues who are averse to change and more interested in reminiscing about the past than embracing new ideas. The cynical Lisa embodies the resistance to change, expressing contempt for the modern world and for Yvonne’s presence. Complementary characters like Hannah and Thea, who are more open to different points of view lighten the tone of the conversation and welcome Yvonne under their wings.

In the post-COVID world, the women at ‘The Penny Shopper Circular’ are still cutting and pasting their bulletin together. But not for long, as the young go-getter Yvonne steps into the office. These world-savvy businesswomen are set in their old-school ways while the less experienced, and occasionally ditsy, Yvonne encourages them to explore options like websites and social media profiles.

Despite some rough moments, the generations slowly begin to soften and the group educates each other in matters of feminism, social justice, business, and more. Maria plays a vital role in leading the informal lecture, making sure Yvonne has a full understanding of how far women have come and how much further we still have to go.

The characters of “Agency” are vividly portrayed and the actors deliver beyond-engaging performances. Directed with flair by Art Bernal, “Agency” is a unique blend of Sarah’s artistry and the real-life experiences of professional women. This gives the audience a sense of realism and authenticity that makes each character so tangible and relatable.

Furthermore, the choice to write for an all-female cast adds a layer of depth to the show and provides moments of learning to the actresses as well as the audience. Each member of the cast highlights the uniqueness and power and women in the workplace. Amelie, the youngest member of the cast, told us that she quickly lost her nerves around her coworkers, and even began viewing them as role models.

Sarah Vingigni and the team at ATA are thrilled to bring this phenomenal cast back for two more performances. She expressed to us that her wish for the show is, “That the audience acknowledges the hard work, dedication, and passion of the cast and crew. And when they leave, in the words of Oscar Wilde, ‘…regard the theatre as the greatest of all art forms’.” Surely, those who see this touchingly quippy show will be able to understand the sentiment.

Ultimately, “Agency” beautifully captures the essence of intergenerational learning and mentorship, highlighting how Yvonne not only learns from her co-workers’ experiences but also finds inspiration and guidance. This beautiful story of friendship among women will not disappoint and should even leave you wondering what else there is to learn from those around you.

Come see the final two presentations of “Agency” this weekend at ATA’s Beckmann Stage, 314 W. 54th St. New York City, NY 10019 this Saturday, June 8th, at 8 pm and Sunday, June 9th, at 3 pm!
